Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Survey 2024

Georgia Tech participated in a survey on faculty job satisfaction in the spring of 2024. This survey is part of a national program called the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), which is based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Previously, Georgia Tech took part in the COACHE survey during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Survey Details

There are many faculty surveys, but the COACHE survey, in particular, is designed to compare current job satisfaction with that of faculty peers at other institutions. We welcome this opportunity to learn from an independent, research-driven, comparative study. Faculty perspectives are important to us as we strive to attract and retain the best and brightest scholars and instructors, increase faculty satisfaction, and continue to make Georgia Tech a great place to work.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty has launched a COACHE Faculty Advisory Committee that convenes to analyze the report data, draft reports, and make recommendations.

Eligibility

Georgia Tech academic and research faculty who had been employed by the Institute for at least one year were eligible to participate. New faculty (in their first year of employment), faculty in their terminal year of employment, and senior administrators (such as deans, associate deans, provosts, and associate provosts) were not eligible. School chairs were eligible to participate in the survey.

Confidentiality

It is important to note that we partnered with COACHE to ensure all responses were and remain confidential. COACHE does not use any names or email addresses for purposes other than this research. They disseminate survey results with data disaggregated by race, gender, rank, and tenure status, so that individual faculty members and departments cannot be identified.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty or COACHE (coachefaculty@abtassociates.com).
